Painting Your Path

The Connection Cure: Interview with Julia Hotz

Clarissa Castillo-Ramsey Season 3 Episode 48

This coming Saturday December 14th, I’m hosting a virtual class called Self-Expression Sanctuary. It’s a combo arts, movement, and journaling class for the simple purpose of self-care and getting back to our creative self.

I’ve used the power of art, movement, and journaling on my self-care journey for a very long time. A few months ago I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Good Life Project with Jonathan Fields. He interviewed today’s guest Julia Hotz and that’s when I learned a new term (that you’ll want to know too): Social Prescribing.

Here’s more about Julia: Julia Hotz is a solutions-focused journalist and author of The Connection Cure —the first book chronicling the science, stories, and spread of social prescribing. She works at  the Solutions Journalism Network, where she helps other journalists rigorously report on what’s working to solve today’s biggest problems.

Before becoming a journalist, Julia worked as a teacher, bartender, pizza server, and summer camp “forest ranger”. She enjoys hiking up mountains, biking around New York, riling up dance floors, running around parks, budget traveling around the world, and building the ‘longest road’ around Catan.

Tune into my conversation with Julia to learn about this radically simple approach to getting well and join me Saturday if you want to experience some of this magic!
